Ballia, Uttar Pradesh:
A 23-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a three-year-old kidnapping and rape case, police said.
The suspect and the girl lived together for the past three years after the marriage, senior police official Yogesh Yadav said, adding that they have two children.
The man, a resident of Mau district, was arrested Wednesday at the Ibrahimpatti Nahar crossing after being tipped off.
On June 26, 2018, a case was registered against him at Bheempura Police Station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Child Protection Against Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) for kidnapping and raping the 15-year-old year-old girl on her father’s complaint.
During the investigation, the police seized his property and announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for information leading to his arrest.
